GeForce NOW supports 2-channel stereo by default. Multi-channel audio is supported on select membership tiers and platforms:
- Performance membership: support 5.1 Surround on native Windows PC app, native macOS app, and NVIDIA SHIELD TV.
- Ultimate membership: support for 5.1 and 7.1 Surround on native Windows PC app, native macOS app, and NVIDIA SHIELD TV.
You will also need to to set up multi-channel Surround on your device prior to launching GeForce NOW. Here are some online resources:
Once multi-channel Surround is set up properly on your device, GeForce NOW will automatically stream multi-channel Surround if supported by your membership level and platform.
Additional troubleshooting steps:
- Multi-channel Surround audio is not available on every game.
- Make sure that you are running the latest version of the GeForce NOW app
- Windows PC and macOS should make sure that:
- “Spatial audio” is disabled
- Your speakers are configured to match the physical setup of the playback device. Windows PC users can do this under “more sound settings”. macOS users can do this from “Audio MIDI setup”.
- Your sound system supports LPCM
- If you connect your PC/Mac to a TV using a soundbar, the soundbar must be connected to a HDMI eARC connection to get multi-channel Surround audio. Older ARC connections will be limited to stereo.
- Check that your device’s sound or AV receiver isn't muted
- If you are experiencing audio cracking, audio cutoff, or audio stuttering, make sure your internet connection meets the network requirements to run GeForce NOW (at least 15Mbps and less than 80ms latency from an NVIDIA data center)
