The GeForce NOW Mac or PC apps indicates it needs an update. How do I manually update it?


The GeForce NOW Mac and PC apps are designed to update itself automatically, but there are some cases where it is unable to update. Here are some things to try:

Check what version of the GeForce NOW Mac or PC app you currently have installed

To find this launch the GeForce NOW app, go to Settings within the app (the gear icon) and there you will see the version in the ABOUT section. If it doesn’t match the latest version we have posted about on our forums, please download and install the latest app

Launch the GeForce NOW app as an administrator

The GeForce NOW app requires administrator privileges only to update itself on Mac or Windows. Try running the app as an admin user and then recheck the application version to see if it was able to update.

Manually remove the app on Windows

Windows user may manually remove the app, and then install the latest version of the app following these instructions.

  1. 1. Launch Settings >Add/Remove Program and Remove NVIDIA GeForce NOW

  2. 2. Delete the following folders if they exist:

  3. %localappdata%\NVIDIA Corporation\GeForceNOW

    %localappdata%\NVIDIA Corporation\GeForceNOWStreamer

  4. 3. Install the latest Windows app, available for download.
