How can I setup Horiztonal SPAN mode with overlap on Windows 7

Applies to the Quadro 6000,5000 and FX 5800 cards only

The Mosiac function available in 265.xx driver enables Mosaic with overlap on the Quadro graphic cards listed above (6000,5000, FX5800) and provides the same fucntionality as SPAN mode on Windows XP. The following steps will guide you on how to configure Mosaic SPAN mode on these Quadro cards with overlap.

  1. Step 1: Checking driver version + FX 5800 card, G-Sync card is not needed

  2. Step 2: Attached to two displays with no EDID, These appear as Generic Non-PnP (Plug and Play) monitors.

  3. Step 3: Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, Highlight either monitor and select Customize

  4. Step 4: If you have created custom resoutions they will be listed here, if you have not created any check the box as shown and select Create Custom Resolution.

  5. Step 5: The following menu will appear, select Timing to display more options.

  6. Step 6: Full timing info will be displayed, Standard Automatic will attempt to use EDID information if present or Windows internal timing

  7. Step 7: Enter custom timing values, Horiztonal pixels + Vertical lines + refresh rate.

  8. Change the Timing from Standard, in this example "CVT" is chosen as it is compatible with most projectors, You can also select Manual and enter in all the values.

  9. After filling in the values select Test, the mode will change and pop up will appear for you to confirm. If the display is correct select OK.

  10. Step 8: Select the custom timing in the menu and select OK. Note the timing has not been applied it will now appear in the Change Resolution Menu.

  11. Select and apply the custom resolution

  12. Step 9: Select the 2nd display and repeat Steps 4 through 8, Creating the same custom timing settings.

  13. Step 10: Seelct and apply the custom resolution that appears under the Custom header.

  14. Step 11: Download the Mosaic Utility from www.nvidia.com if you do not already have it.

  15. Step 12: The current version is 1.0.

  16. Step 13: Save the file, this is not an installer, you are directly downloading the command line tool.

  17. Step 14: Save it someone easily accessable such as the Desktop.

  18. Step 15: Open the Windows/START menu, and type in "CMD" into the search field.

  19. Step 16: Go to the folder where you downloaded the Configure Mosaic tool too.

  20. Step 17: configureMosaic.exe, set rows =1 cols=2 overlap=180,0 res=1280,1024,60

  21. This will set HSPAN mode with an 180 pixel overlap for the resolution 1280x1024@60hz.

  22. Step 18: Check on the Windows screen resolution, which will show 2380x1024 ( 2x 1280 - 180 pixels).

  23. Step 19: Check using the NVIDIA Control Panel, it will show the resolution as "Bezel Corrected"

  24. Step 20: Finally check the System Topology
