I purchased the game The Sims 3 and when I attempt to play, it states I need a graphics card with Pixel Shader 2.0

The following is the official system requirements for Electronic Art's The Sims game:

Desktop PC (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or higher)

Desktop PC (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or higher)

Laptop (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or higher)

Laptop (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 2 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or higher)

If you receive a message from The Sims 3 that your graphics card requires Pixel Shader 2.0, this means that the graphics card that is currently installed on your PC does not support this technology.  Pixel Shader is a hardware feature and thus can not be added to your PC through a driver update.  You will need to replace your existing graphics card with a newer model.  Although the GeforceFX 5900 series is one of the supported graphics cards, we recommend purchasing a Geforce 6 series GPU or higher to give you the best experience with future gaming titles which may require a higher version Pixel Shader.
