What are the basic troubleshooting steps if I can not get DualTV to receive video on Windows Media Center?

Please check that the following tasks have been completed:

  • Ensure that the NVIDIA DualTV NTSC card is securely installed in your computer and that a television cable, antenna, or set-top box is properly connected. Verify that it is showing in Windows Device Manager with no conflicts or problems.
  • Ensure you have uninstalled any old drivers(WDM) from previous analog tuner card(s) prior to installation.
  • Load the software CD and follow the installation prompts to completion (including restarting the system).
  • Verify that the NVIDIA DualTV WDM and PureVideo Decoder driver are installed properly and enabled.
  • Ensure that you completed the first-time TV set-up procedures in Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition and make sure your OS has the latest patch.
  • Ensure that you have the latest DirectX components.
  • Make sure you have a video card with enough memory, 128MB of video memory is recommended and it has to support DXVA(motion compensation), and DirectX 9.0. If not, you can buy a current video card with an NVIDIA GPU on it.
  • Verify that Purevideo decoder is installed. When working correctly, the NVIDIA Decoder Properties icon should show up on Windows task bar when playing a MPEG-2 video or DVD.
  • If you are using an NVIDIA video card, make sure your driver is up to date.
  • Verify that the NVIDIA PureVideo decoder has the highest priority (if there are other installed decoders on your system) using a decoder checkup utility from Microsoft. Click here to access it. If the utility does not work or address the problem, you may need to uninstall any 3rd party decoders using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.
  • Verify that your Media Center Edition OS is updated. Click here to get the latest update Rollup 2. Afterward, update the latest January 2006 Rollup #912067, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912067.
  • Verify that your system meets the minimum requirements for MCE.
