Creating a custom resolution higher than the native resolution of the monitor and then downscaling causes screen to appear black/display corruption

On some graphics cards, particularly older ones, the GPU scaler may not be capable of downscaling high screen resolutions such as 4K resolution.  If your graphics card supports NVIDIA's DSR technology, we recommend using this feature instead as it uses a different method for down scaling higher resolutions:
