What does configuring a PC game for SHIELD entail?

A: Streaming PC games to mobile devices is not entirely new, but to date the experience has been lacking. With SHIELD, NVIDIA is not only delivering an ultra-low latency streaming solution, but is also configuring PC games using GeForce Experience to deliver a seamless out of the box experience. There are three key activities involved here:

a) Generating optimal game settings for streaming games from the PC to SHIELD. We use our GeForce Experience supercomputer to determine the best quality settings based on the user's CPU and GPU, and target higher frame rates than 'normal' optimal settings to ensure the lowest latency gaming experience. These settings are automatically applied when the game is launched so gamers don't have to worry about configuring these settings themselves.

b) Mapping game controls to the SHIELD controller. For games with native controller support, this is fairly straightforward, but NVIDIA can also map game controls that aren't natively mapped by the game. This avoids gamers having to manually configure game settings to work with a controller.

c) Optimizing the game launch process to avoid launchers where possible and get gamers directly into the game as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
