Adjusting Windows 8 display size/scaling for high DPI/PPI monitors

Laptops and desktops with displays featuring high DPI/PPI are increasingly becoming more mainstream.  Objects on the screen may appear very small on these displays and text may be difficult to read.  Microsoft Windows 8 provides the ability to scale the desktop to one of three pre-defined settings.  To access the display scaling:

1) If you are on the Windows 8 desktop, right-click over the desktop and select Screen resolution

2) Select Make text and other items larger or smaller from the bottom of the display settings.

3) From here, you can change the scaling for your display.  The default typically is Medium however OEM PCs may ship with a different setting.
