I have installed one of the NVIDIA TV tuners on my PC with Windows Media Center 2005 (previously upgraded from Windows Media Center 2004).  Although the card appeared to install correctly, the Windows Media Center interface does not detect the NVIDIA TV tuner

On certain systems, you may experience problems detecting certain installed hardware when you perform an upgrade from Windows Media Center 2004 to Windows Media Center 2005.  If after installing the NVIDIA TV tuner, Windows Media Center 2005 interface does not detect the card, please perform the following troubleshooting steps.

1) Make sure you have installed the latest drivers for your product from our Software Downloads page at:

2) Verify that you have a Microsoft certified DVD Decoder software installed.  You may use the Microsoft Decoder Checkup Utility to scan your PC for a certified decoder:

3) The motherboard chipset drivers may need to be updated.  Here is a list of the most common motherboard chipset manufacturers:

AMD - www.amd.com
Intel - www.intel.com
NVIDIA - www.nvidia.com
SiS - www.sis.com
Via - www.viaarena.com

If these steps do not resolve your issue, you may need to perform a fresh installation of Windows Media Center 2005.  You should back up all of your important files before formatting your hard drive.  Clean installations of Windows are always preferred over upgrading from a previous Windows version as this can leave old files, registry entries and settings from your previous Windows version which can cause instability on your PC.
