Can I change the signal strength and range of the IR emitter for my environment?

Yes, you can adjust the signal strength of the 3D Vision IR emitter for your room using the NVIDIA 3D Vision Setup Wizard. During the setup of the Wizard, you can select three different IR emitter signal strengths.

Single Gaming Computer

IR Emitter placement

A single 120 Hz LCDs is one of the most common setups. NVIDIA recommends placing the monitor at eye level height and placing the emitter near the base of the monitor stand. Also make sure the emitter is at least 1.5-2 feet away from the glasses when you enable GeForce 3D Vision.

NVIDIA recommends selecting the Single gaming computer setup (far left) from the NVIDIA 3D Vision Setup wizard to ensure maximum IR coverage.

Single Gaming Computer with Other IR Devices

IR Emitter placement

This setup is for a room with a PC and other IR devices such as a DLP TV or remote control. NVIDIA recommends placing the monitor at in front of the DLP if there is a high ceiling. If the ceiling is lower and the IR signal can bounce off it, you can place the IR emitter on top of the DLP.

NVIDIA recommends selecting the single gaming Computer with other IR devices (middle value) from the NVIDIA 3D Vision setup wizard to ensure maximum IR coverage.

Multiple Gaming PCs in a LAN

IR Emitter placement

NVIDIA recommends placing the monitor at eye level height and placing the emitter near the base of the monitor stand. Also make sure the emitter is at least 1.5 feet away from the glasses when you enable 3D Vision.

In addition, because a LAN environment has multiple IR emitters, NVIDIA recommend placing PC towers between the displays to block and stray IR signals. If the IR emitter is being placed on a table and the user is standing and not sitting, NVIDIA also recommend angling the IR emitter slightly upward.

NVIDIA recommends selecting the Multiple gaming PCs in a LAN from the NVIDIA 3D Vision Setup wizard. This ensures the IR coverage is isolated to users sitting directly in front of the PC.
